The Telugu Desam Party's floor leader in the GHMC, Singireddy Srinivas Reddy, on Monday, described the GHMC budget as a "jugglery of words".
Singireddy said that the GHMC was merely making tall claims while its performance has been highly condemnable.
He pointed out that only 40 per cent of the amounts allotted in the previous year's budget were actually spent on development.
He accused the Congress-MIM alliance of converting the GHMC into a private company, and that there had been no discernible development at the grassroots levels.
Stating that only Rs. 1500 crores have been spent during the current financial year, Reddy said that no developmental works had been undertaken in the L B Nagar circle.
He demanded an all-party meeting to review the developmental works taken up by the GHMC in the last three years. He also asked the GHMC to explore the potential of using solar power.
BJP floor leader Bangari Prakash also criticised the GHMC budget and alleged that a populist budget was presented in view of the next general elections. Ridiculing the claims of development which had been made by the UPA government through television commercials, he said that none of the schemes were implemented in the city. (INN)
