A delegation from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, comprising the institute's director Prof. Mustansir Barma and Uma Mahadevan, called on Chief Minister K Rosaiah at Secretariat on Thursday, in connection with the foundation stone laying ceremony for the institute's Hyderabad campus.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for this prestigious project on October 19th.
It may be recalled that the State government has invited TIFR to the State and endowed 209 acres of land adjoining the Central University campus at Gachibowli.
While thanking the Chief Minister for his Government's unstinted support for their endeavour, Prof. Barma and his colleagues briefed him about various research and academic facilities proposed to be set up in the Hyderabad campus by investing about Rs. 2,500 crores over a period of time to create world class facilities.
The team invited the Chief Minister to grace the foundation stone laying ceremony, which is scheduled to be held on October 19th.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah has congratulated the delegation for setting up their campus in the State.
Rosaiah said that he expected the TIFR's Hyderabad facility to become a great centre of scientific pursuits and future innovations.
