Union minister of state for Railways K H Muniyappa, on Saturday, suspected sabotage behind the fire mishap on the Chennai-bound Tamil Nadu Express, which has claimed 34 lives so far and injured 28 others.
Talking to media persons after a darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala, the union minister revealed that forensic experts have gained vital clues in this regard. He said that the experts recovered explosive materials from the ill-fated coach under seat number 44, and that their focus is on them now.
"However, we will get clear details only after a complete investigation," he pointed out.
He ruled out that a short circuit was responsible for the fire in the compartment, as was reported earlier.
He also pointed that only 67 passengers travelled on the S-11 coach on that fateful day, as against the capacity of 72 - the media had reported that 72 were travelling, along with 3 other passengers. The death toll, too, was 28, and not 33 as reported, he said. (INN)
