The death toll in the Chennai-bound Tamil Nadu Express rose to 34, with one more death being reported from Narayana Hospital in Nellore district.
The deceased, Sukdev Singh of Amritsar in Punjab, died while undergoing treatment for burn injuries at Narayana Hospital, on Saturday.
Narayana General Hospital assistant professor Dr. M Srinivasa Rao said that the condition of Sukdev Singh (23), who suffered 55% burn injuries, deteriorated quickly despite his being treated in the intensive care unit.
Sukdev Singh was travelling with his friends in the ill-fated coach of S-11, from New Delhi to Chennai.
According to sources in the railways, 8 victims who were undergoing treatment at various hospitals are still in a critical condition.
32 passengers were charred to death and 28 others sustained grievous injuries, when the S-11 coach of the Chennai-bound Tamil Nadu Express caught fire near Nellore Railway Station. (INN)
