Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today promised that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would carve out Siddipet as the first of the 27 new districts, on Dussehra, and vowed to develop the proposed district at the earliest.
The minister said that Siddipet was given enough resources and was financially ready to evolve on par with other developing towns and cities in Telangana.
Talking about the transport and irrigation facilities that would be provided to the new district, he said that the Godavari river waters would be brought to the proposed district and its surrounding areas to irrigate its lands and to provide drinking water to its people.
He also said that a new outer ring road and railway line were being laid to improve transport and connectivity within Siddipet.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently laid the foundation for a new railway lane from Kothapalli to Manoharabad near Siddipet in Medak. Also, the laying of the new ORR will expedite the growth of the city through increased trade," he said.
These initiatives, among others, would help the new district develop rapidly by enabling trade and transport, he said. That would also encourage investors and companies to set up base there, he added.
