Municipal Administration and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today informed the Assembly that 18 projects had been taken up in the city to provide complete road connectivity and ease traffic jams.
Replying to a question in the Assembly today, Rao said that the government was to spend Rs 30,000 crore under the Strategic Road Development Project (SRDP) program, to increase road connectivity and complete the related development programs.
As part of the program, works worth Rs 6,000 crore were on, and 9 flyovers, 4 underpasses, 3 RUBs, one bridge and one cable bridge had been built, he informed the house.
These facilities would improve road connectivity and ease traffic problems, the minister claimed.
The road works were being undertaken by the Hyderabad Collector who was coordinating with the GHMC and other relevant officials, and the related land acquisition works were going on a speedy pace, he said.
He also said that the government had taken up several other development programs in the city to ease traffic movement including enhancing the public transportation system - primarily the RTC and the Metro - and that the government's goal was to develop Hyderabad as a global city.
