Minor Irrigation minister T G Venkatesh, on Saturday, came out with a new suggestion that could trigger a fresh debate over the Telangana issue.
Talking to reporters in Hyderabad, Venkatesh said that if the division of Andhra Pradesh was inevitable, then the Centre should create a separate Rayalaseema state by merging together Nellore and Prakasam districts and two mandals - Alampur and Gadwal of Mahabubnagar district - into the new "state".
However, Venkatesh said that he will always remain in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh as the division of the state will have grave repurcussions on the Rayalaseema region. (INN)
