The death toll due to swine flu in Telangana reached 20 on Friday.
Speaking to media persons, Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Director Dr L Narendranath said that all possible precautions were being taken to prevent the spread of the disease.
He said that swine flu vaccines and medicines had been dispatched to all district area hospitals.
He added so far 249 cases of swine flu were reported from across the State. They included 142 in Hyderabad, 60 in the Ranga Reddy district, 11 in the Mahabubnagar district, five in the Medak district and one each in the Adilabad and Khammam districts.
Dr Ravindranath said that the visiting Central team had observed that the impact of swine flu was on the decline. However, he asked the people to take all possible precautions at their levels.
He added that the medical staff in the state were being trained for the safe and effective handling of swine flu cases. (INN)
