Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, on Monday, stated that the Centre would take a decision on the Telangana statehood demand "after taking all issues into consideration".
Talking to media persons, the Home Minister made it clear that there would be no all-party meeting seeking the opinion of leaders on the issue at this stage, and that the government would take a decision after taking pros and cons into consideration.
However, he admitted that the government was holding consultations with all stakeholders and parties in order to take the decision soon.
When reporters asked him about Telangana Rashtra Samithi President K Chandrasekhar Rao's claim that he had received hints that the Centre would take a decision on Telangana statehood by the end of September, Sushil Kumar Shinde said that the subject of AP's bifurcation needs deep study as it involves several sensitive issues like Naxalism.
"Since I have assumed charge as the Home Minister recently, I need some more time to understand the issue threadbare," he pointed out.
When asked about the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee calling for a Telangana March on September 30 as part of the Telangana agitation, he said that the Home ministry was getting reports on the latest stock of situation regularly, and that it would act accordingly. Meanwhile, he opined that Naxalism has grown after the formation of Chattisgarah. (INN)
