Former minister Konda Surekha on Sunday dashed off a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi seeking an explanation over the suspension of ex-chairman of Tirupati Urban Development Authority Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, a staunch follower of Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, from the Congress party for his alleged anti-party activities.
Talking to media persons after releasing a copy of her letter, she questioned the Pradesh Congress Committee's move to suspend Chevireddy from the party and sought an explanation.
Surekha alleged that Chevireddy had been suspended from the party for supporting Jaganmohan Reddy's Odarpu Yatra, and for criticizing Chief Minister K Rosaiah.
THe former minister accused the PCC of being biased against the Kadapa MP's loyalists, and said that even though some Congress leaders were making highly objectionable comments against the High Command and the Chief Minister, the PCC had remained a mute spectator, and was not initiating any action against them.
"How can the PCC initiate action against Chevireddy when it failed to take disciplinary action against senior leader V Hanumantha Rao even after he made serious allegations against the party High Command?" Surekha questioned.
The former minister also alleged that there was no coordination between the PCC and state government.
Surekha also demanded that Sonia Gandhi keep a tab on activities of PCC chief D Srinivas.
