Supreme Court To Resolve AP Irrigation Project Row: HC
The Telangana High Court today declined to give any stay in or ruling on the issue, and adjourned hearings on it until a direction came from the apex court.
The Telangana High Court today said that the case of the Rayalaseema lift irrigation project was being heard by the Supreme Court and the NGT, and declined to give any stay in or ruling on the issue and adjourned hearings on it until a direction came from the apex court.
The court made this announcement after hearing for the second day the petition by Congress leader Vamshichand Reddy and social activist Srinivas seeking a stay on Andhra Pradesh's project.
The Congress leader had urged the court to stop the AP government from taking up the project as it would cause loss to Telangana.
The project was also a violation of the Apex Council instructions, and did not have permission either, he argued.
He also asked the court to deal with the case as per the AP Reorganisation Act.
The court said that it could not intervene in the inter-state matter, and that the Supreme Court would take a call on the issue.
