HC To Hear Case On Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation on Sep 1
The Telangana High Court will hear on Tuesday the Congress' petition seeking a stay on the Rayalaseema lift irrigation project and the cancellation of the tenders.
The Telangana High Court will hear on Tuesday the petition filed by Congress secretary and former MLA Ch Vamshichand Reddy seeking a stay on the works of the Rayalaseema lift irrigation project and the cancellation of the tenders called for it.
A division bench headed by the Chief Justice of the state Justice R S Chauhan will hear the petition.
In his petition, Reddy told the HC that the project was taken up in violation of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014, and urged the HC to cancel the tenders called for by the AP government to take up the construction of the project.
The union government has already submitted to the NGT that the project did not need any new environmental clearances since it was not a new project but one that was already approved, and that might prove a headwind for the Congress leader's petition.
