Upon reviewing a petition, the Supreme Court on Tuesday deplored the conditions of infrastructure at government schools in Telangana.
The apex court directed the State government to explain what steps it would take from here on to improve the infrastructure in the government schools. The court also asked the government to explain what it has done so far on the recruitment of teachers, given that the State had a low teacher-to-student ratio.
The Telangana Advocate-General informed the court that the State government prepared a plan for developing government schools, after which the SC asked him to submit a comprehensive plan within eight weeks.
Circling back to Andhra Pradesh in another petition, the SC questioned the AP government to explain the closure of several government schools.
The case was postponed to February 9.
