The CBI Special Court hearing the multi-crore Railway Recruitment Board question paper leakage scam on Monday directed the CBI to file a report by Tuesday on the progress of investigations.
The order came about after the CBI filed a petition and asked for a 10-day custody of suspended RRB Mumbai chairman S M Sharma and Raipur Senior Divisional Personnel Officer G Sethi.
The CBI, in its petition, said that it needed the additional time to elicit more information from the two accused. The judicial remand of these two accused ends on July 1.
The judge asked the CBI counsel to file a report on the headway made by the investigating body into the case, and posted further hearing for Tuesday.
One of the accused, Jagannatham, is believed to have struck a deal involving as much as Rs. 1 crore with some RRB officials, to leak question papers for the recruitment exams. It is also believed that over half this amount has already changed hands.
