As part of its efforts to turn Hyderabad a global city, the government today gave the nod for the building of another steel bridge in the city - a skywalk 500 meters in length for pedestrains - in Mehdipatnam.
Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao has offered permission and approved the designs for the project.
This was announced by Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration) Arvind Kumar in a tweet.
Kumar said that tenders would be called for soon for the project, by the HMDA.
The bridge will have 16 lifts including two in the nearby Rythu Bazaar.
The bridge is expected to ease the traffic in the busy area and pave the way for crossing the roads smoothly.
Bus shelters would be redesigned suitably, Kumar said.
