Minister for Major and Medium Irrigation A Sudarshan Reddy on Monday stated that the state government would file a review petition before the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal seeking justice in the sharing of Krishna River waters.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of a review meeting convened under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the Secretariat, the Minister said the government would file a petition in the tribunal after convening an all-party meeting and seeking their suggestions.
Stating that the state had suffered a major injustice in the sharing of waters, Sudarshan Reddy said the Chief Minister has asked the officials to study the tribunal report thoroughly and identify the areas for seeking redressal.
He said that the tribunal had given 3 months time for filing the writ petition and for raising objections over the verdict.
"In the 3 months, the government would seek experts' suggestions and file a petition before the tribunal" he said.
Though it gave permission to Karnataka to raise height of Almatti dam from 519 to 524 metres, the tribunal had not clearly mentioned about the storage of water, the minister said.
