Water For 43.81 Lakh Acres
The government has approved a proposal for releasing water to 43,81,094 acres of ayacut for the Rabi season.

Minister for Major and Minor Irrigation A Sudarshan Reddy on Friday stated that the state government had approved the action plan for releasing water to 43,81,094 acres of ayacut for the Rabi season.
He was speaking to media persons after emerging out of state committee on integrated water planning and management review meeting held under the chairmanship of engineer-in-chief.
The minister revealed that the availability of water in major reservoirs, and the proposed ayacut for irrigation during ensuing rabi season under major, medium and minor irrigation projects were reviewed at the meeting.
Under major irrigation projects, Sudarshan Reddy said that 36,26,276 hectares would be provided water. Under medium irrigation, 1,04,818 acres would be provided irrigation, and under minor irrigation, 6,50,000 acres would be provided water.
He said that 19 irrigation projects, which were in various stages of construction, would be completed under accelerated irrigation scheme by July next year.
The district-wise water release schedule should be finalized by respective project engineers, farmers organizations in the IAB meeting chaired by the District Collector.
The meeting proposed to close canals by March end or April first week to allow time for works related to modernization and maintenance.
