The stage is set for the counting of the votes polled in the Munugodu by-election on Sunday.
The counting will begin at 8 AM, and will likely finish by 1 PM. 47 candidates are in the fray.
The postal ballots will be counted first, and then the votes polled in the EVMs will be counted.
A total of 686 postal ballots were received.
The counting of the in-person votes will begin with those of the Choutuppal mandal, followed by those of the Narayanpur, Chandur, Marrigudem, Nampally and Gattuppal mandals.
The officials have made elaborate arrangements for the counting of the votes, which will happen at Arjalabavi in Nalgonda district. 21 tables have been arranged, and there will be 15 rounds of counting. A three-layer security ring has been set up at the counting centre. CRPF forces have also been deployed at the strong room, and the entire counting process will be under the surveillance of CC cameras.
A voter turnout of 93.13% was recorded in the bitterly contested by-election. This surpassed the 91.31% polling recorded in the constituency in the 2018 elections.
A total of 298 EVMs were used across the seven mandals in the constituency.
