Minister for Major Irrigation Ponnala Lakshmaiah took officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to task, for the delay in execution of the expansion of Srisailam National Highway from Midulapally in Ranga Reddy district.
Lakshmaiah, who is also the in-charge minister for Ranga Reddy district, told the officials that their laxity in solving the minor glitches was delaying the work on the project. He directed the officials to work out the solutions to the various court cases.
The minister made these comments after presiding over a meeting with Ranga Reddy district Collector Dana Kishore, HMDA Chief Engineer Madhava Raja, and other officials.
The officials informed Lakshmaiah that the delay in the project was due to land acquisition issues.
7.24 acres of land are required for the project, out of which 4.17 acres are patta and the rest are unassigned. 10 cases are pending in the court regarding this issue, they said.
Lakshmaiah urged the officials to take the necessary steps to settle the cases out of court since they were filed 2 years ago. He told officials to deposit the compensation amount in the court and get the stay orders vacated so as to expedite the pace of work on the road.
The Irrigation Minister reminded the officials that Rs. 87 crores had already been spent on the project, and that minor issues should be smoothened out soon.
The minister also pointed out that bridges and central lighting system work on 6.5 km of the high road has already been completed.
