Chief Minister K Rosaiah, on Sunday, laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the collapsed Rajagopuram of the Srikalahasteshwara temple in Srikalahasti, in Chittoor district.
Rosaiah told media persons after laying the foundation stone, that a private firm "Navayuva Constructions" had voluntarily came forward to construct the Rajagopuram at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 crore.
The CM asked officials to complete the reconstruction works on the Rajagopuram in a time-bound period, without giving any room for complaints. The reconstruction of the Rajagopuram is to be completed by December 2012.
Rosaiah, later, had a darshan of Vayulingeswaraswamy in the temple, and performed a special puja. Endowments Minister Gade Venkata Reddy was also present.
The 500-year-old Rajagopuram at the Srikalahasteshwara temple in Srikalahasti, of Lord Srikalahastheeswaraswamy and goddess Gnanaprasoonambika, had collapsed on May 26. The incident resulted in the death of one person.
