SCR Penalizes 19,574 For Soiling Station Premises
South Central Railways penalizes 19,574 people for soiling station premises in violation of the Indian Railways (Penalties for Activities Affecting Cleanliness at Railway Premises) Rules-2012 .

The South Central Railway detected and penalized 19,754 people for violating the provisions of the Indian Railways (Penalties for Activities Affecting Cleanliness at Railway Premises) Rules-2012 during the first quarter (April-June) of the current financial year 2013-14.
5,644 people were arrested in the Secunderabad division, 2,292 in the Hyderabad division, 5,229 in the Vijayawada division; 1,979 in the Nanded division and 3,090 in the Guntakal division, 1520 persons in Guntur division.
A net amount of Rs. 39,70,830, as penalty, was extracted from all the violators.
The Indian Railways (Penalties for Activities Affecting Cleanliness at Railway Premises) Rules-2012 came into effect from November, 2012.
It authorizes the railway administration to penalize any person / passenger who is found either littering, spitting, or defiling the station premises in any other way, with a penalty of up to Rs. 500.
These provisions are being vigorously implemented in all the 6 divisions of SCR by station masters, ticket collectors and other railway officials who have been authorized to detect and penalize offenders. (INN)
