Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal had on Tuesday morning
requested the state government to conduct the Sub inspector (SI) exams in the Telangana region, and was slammed by Telangana leaders by Tuesday evening.
Congress member and Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukender Reddy stated that Lagadapati was unable to accept the peaceful conditions currently prevailing in the state, and that he was thus shaking the hornet's nest by seeking the conduction of the SI exams in Telangana.
He opined that Lagadapati's demands were nothing more than an attempt to grab the limelight and make the newspaper headlines.
Students who are Telangana activists were quicker to react towards the demands made by Lagadapati and some SI aspirants. They immediately announced that they would hold protests in case the examinations are conducted before sorting out the Free Zone issue.
Telangana Students Joint Action Committee (TSJAC) representatives stated that they would boycott the exams if they are conducted before the deletion of Clause 14 (F) of the AP Public Employment Order 1975. The removal of the clause would ensure that SI positions in Hyderabad would be acquired only by those from Telangana.
