Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi today expressed grief the demise of balladeer Gaddar.
She sent a condolence message to the wife of Gaddar, Vimala.
In her letter, Gandhi told Vimala that she was saddened to learn about the demise of the popular folk singer of the State.
She said that Gaddar had played an important role in using art and culture as a means of expression to bring attention to the struggles of the marginalised and oppressed in the society.
"His dedication to raising awareness about public issues through music and his unwavering commitment to his beliefs and ideals was evident throughout his life's journey," she said in her message.
Gandhi also said that Vimala had played an important role in the life of Gaddar by extending all kinds of support to him.
Gandhi said that her thoughts and prayers were with Vimala and her family members at this difficult time.
