Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid his last respects to former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and Congress senior leader D Srinivas, who passed away due to a heart attack, in Nizamabad on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Srinivas, popularly known as DS, was instrumental in getting the Congress to power in the 2004 and 2009 Assembly elections.
"D Srinivas began his political career as a student leader, and carved a niche for himself by ascending to the top level in the Congress. Even though he stayed away from the party for a while, Sonia Gandhi used to greet the senior leader warmly in Parliament," the CM said.
"DS always said that he never had hopes for positions. His only wish was to have the Congress flag draped over him when he died, and it was fulfilled. The passing away of the senior Congress leader is a huge loss for the party," he said.
The Chief Minister added that the Congress would always stand by DS' family, and would discuss with the family members, taking up some work in memory of Srinivas.
