The Telangana government has decided to appoint senior IAS officer Somesh Kumar as the new Chief Secretary.
Kumar, a 1989 batch IAS officer, will be the fifth Chief Secretary of the State.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao signed the relevant order on Tuesday, and Kumar will take over tomorrow - January 1, 2020.
The State government also took a decision to offer Kumar a long term to offer stability to the administration - Kumar will be in the post till December 31, 2023.
A native of Bihar, Somesh Kumar is currently Special Chief Secretary for the revenue, commercial taxes and excise departments of the Telangana government.
The Chief Minister also decided to appoint the outgoing Chief Secretary S K Joshi, who is retiring today, as Advisor to the government on irrigation matters.
