Senior IAS officer K Ramakrishna Rao has been named the new Chief Secretary of Telangana.
The State government on Sunday issued an order confirming Rao's appointment as Chief Secretary, succeeding Santhi Kumari, who is set to retire upon reaching the age of superannuation on April 30.
Rao, an IAS officer from the 1991 batch, has overseen the finance department since the creation of Telangana State. The highest-ranking IAS officer currently, his appointment appears to be motivated by the belief that his extensive experience in finance and economic leadership will benefit the State.
Rao had served as the Joint Collector of Nalgonda and as the Collector of Guntur previously. He is set to superannuate in August 2025.
