Popular playback singer P B Srinivas died in Chennai today, of old age. The 82-year-old singer is known for having carved a special place for himself in the film industry.
Prathivada Bhayankara Srinivas, who was born in Kakinada of East Godavari district, had sung several popular numbers in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films. He was the music director for several Telugu and Kannada films as well.
The multi-faceted personality had composed certain popular ghazals, too.
Among the old-timers who sang duets with him were Samshad Begum and Geeta Dutt. He also sang with Lata Mangeshkar, Susheela, S Janaka, Bhanumathi, L R Eshwari and Jikki.
His voice was identified with Kannada star Raj Kumar - their combination remained popular for years together.
His well-known Telugu numbers include "Oho gulabi bala" and "Nee andala chethulu kandenu papam", among others.
Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah and Chief Minister J Jayalalitha expressed their condolences on P B Srinivas' demise. The Tamil Nadu government had felicitated him with the Kalaimamani Award. (INN)
