Singareni Residents Homeless: CPI
The Communist Party Of India urged the Hyderabad District Collector to arrange for alternative shelter for the Singareni colony residents who were forcibly evicted.
The Communist Party Of India (CPI) on Tuesday appealed to the Hyderabad District Collector to provide an alternative site for 451 families of Singareni Colony residents who were evicted forcibly on Monday as part of clearing illegal encroachments.
Submitting a memorandum in this connection to the District Collector, CPI Greater Hyderabad Council Secretary V S Bose said that the government had promised to construct 3,000 houses for Singareni residents. However, it constructed 1700 houses for them, and was dilly-dallying on the construction of the remaining houses, he pointed out.
Though the government sent the victims to Nandanavanam, the residents in that area did not allow them to enter, Bose stated.
The government should own moral responsibility and construct pucca houses for the residents who are on the roads now, he pointed out.
