"CoE For Telugu In Hyd, Not Mysore"
Grave injustice would be caused to Telugu-speaking people if the Centre is established at any place other than Hyderabad, the CM wrote to Kapil Sibal today.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday requested Union Minister For Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal to establish the Centre Of Excellence For Studies In Classical Telugu Language in Potti Sriramulu Telugu University at Hyderabad.
"Telugu is spoken by 8 and a half crore people residing in the state of Andhra Pradesh and the diaspora spread over several Indian states as well as many other parts of the world. Telugu is renowned for its mellifluousness and its ethereal beauty," he said, adding that the Centre has recognised the cultural and heritage value of Telugu and had thus given it the status of a classical language.
"It is learnt that the Ministry Of Human Resource Development is proposing to establish the Centre of Excellence For Studies In Classical Telugu Language, at the Central Institute Of Indian Language at Mysore," he said adding that grave injustice would be caused to Telugu-speaking people if the Centre is established at any place other than Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister asked Sibal to direct the authorities concerned in the ministry to establish the Centre Of Excellence at Hyderabad, at the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. (INN)
