The Secunderabad and Guntakal divisions of the SCR jointly bagged the General Manager's Railway Week Overall Efficiency Shield for their performance during the year 2012-13.
SCR General Manager D P Pande gave away the Efficiency Shield to Divisional Railway Managers S K Mishra (Secunderabad) and T P Singh (Guntakal) at a glittering Zonal Level Railway Week Function held at Rail Kalarang in Secunderabad on Wednesday.
He also gave away awards and medals to 185 officers and members of staff, and 57 Departmental Efficiency Shields to various divisions and workshops, in recognition of their services during the year 2012-13.
While addressing the gathering, Pande congratulated the award-winners, and called upon the Railway workforce to "continuously strive to surpass our present performance in the future through systemic improvements and innovations in their working".
In the financial year 2012-13, South Central Railway moved 111.5 million tonnes of freight and 387 million passengers, and crossed a significant milestone of Rs. 10,000 crores in gross earnings.
Principal heads of departments, Divisional Railway Managers, Chief Workshop Managers and members of staff participated in the function in large numbers. (INN)
