The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee today appealed to the Election Commission to scrap the recognition to the MIM as a political party and declare MIM leaders Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi as ineligible to contest elections.
TPCC official spokesperson G Niranjan addressed a letter in this regard to the Election Commission on Wednesday.
He alleged in his letter that MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi had tried to rake up communal passions and violence in his campaign speeches on January 29, 30 and 31, and that the PCC had submitted copies of the provocative speeches of Owaisi on January 31 for initiation of action, but no action had been initiated yet.
He also accused the Election Commission of complete failure in conducting the elections efficiently.
The Election Commission had also failed to initiate action against Asaduddin Owaisi, who brazenly roamed across the Old City along with 200 henchmen, Niranjan wrote.
He alleged that the police had also failed to stop Owaisi when he was coming towards the Mir Chowk police station, where he attacked Congress leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir.
It was also clear that the government was showing discrimination against Congress leaders, which was clear with the visit of Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy to the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, he alleged.
He asked in the letter why the government was afraid of initiating action against the MIM leaders, and why the police remained spectators when the attack was going on on the Congress leaders right in front of them.
