The issue of SC Reservations categorization rocked the Assembly during the Question Hour on Tuesday when Opposition members rushed to the Well and demanded that the Speaker allow the session's adjournment to accommodate the topic. The Speaker suspended two TDP and one Congress member from the House as the ruckus wouldn't subside.
Immediately after the session commenced, Congress and TDP members raised their voice demanding that the chair take an all-Party delegation to New Delhi to speak with the Centre on the categorization issue.
The Speaker ordered the agitating members to let him continue the Question Hour as several important questions were still pending. But TDP members S Venkata Veeraiah and A Revanth Reddy, and Congress member S A Sampath Kumar rushed to the podium and raised slogans against the government and continued for over half-an-hour.
Consequently, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao moved a motion to suspend the three unruly members. Accordingly, the Speaker passed the motion and suspended them from the House till the end of the entire winter session.
At this juncture, Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy demanded that the government assure the House that it would take an all-Party delegation to the nation's capital to pursue the categorization issue with the Union government.
Agreeing with Jana Reddy, Harish Rao said that the State government would concede the demand. Satisfied with the answer of the government, Reddy and other leaders in the Opposition urged the State government to revoke the suspension imposed on the Opposition members.
The government revoked the suspension immediately on the condition that they would keep up decorum.
