The police has stepped up the security of Satyajit, the personal caretaker of the late Sathya Sai Baba, on Tuesday after intelligence reports emerged that as an eminent member of the Satya Sai Central Trust, he could be facing a threat to his life.
According to sources, the Intelligence Bureau has issued a circular saying that life of the 33-year-old personal caretaker and assistant of the late seer could be in danger. Acting on the memo, the police enhanced his security, the sources said.
Satyajit is said to wield immense clout in the functioning of the Sathya Sai Central Trust, and is also believed to have the authority to sign cheques on behalf of the Trust, which can be conservatively estimated to be worth Rs. 40,000 crores.
Apart from this, speculation is rife that the late Baba had handed over the responsibility of running the Trust to Satyajit in his Will.
However, till now, no Will has been made public.
Satyajit, who hails from Tamil Nadu, had been brought up in the Ashram since he was 5 years old, and is said to have been a favourite of Sathya Sai Baba.
He is also believed to share a good rapport with Trust members Chakravarthi and R Srinivasan.
Allegations of malpractices by Satyajit had been in the air while Sathya Sai Baba was undergoing treatment at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute Of Higher Medical Sciences.
Accusations that Satyajit was manipulating the treatment being given to Sathya Sai Baba, apart from keeping the VIPs from seeing him in the ICU, were also doing rounds.
With Satyajit on one side and the godman?s nephew Ratnakar on the other, sources predict that an intense battle for the control of the Trust will erupt after the final rites of the Baba are performed on Wednesday. (INN)
