The accused in the killing of ten people in Warangal district a couple of months back, Sanjay Kumar, was sentenced to death by a fast track court today.
The judge K Jaya Kumar pronounced the judgement in an open court.
The investigation officer in the case CI Siva Ramaiah took up the case as a challenge and filed his chargesheet in a span of just 25 days despite the threat of Covid-19, after collecting strong evidence to ensure the conviction of the victim.
The court too completed its trial in just one month and pronounced the verdict.
The court lamented that Singh had killed 9 more persons to hide one murder by him.
Warangal Police Commissioner Pramod Kumar expressed happiness over the verdict, and congratulated the investigating officers for disposing of the case very early ensuring quick punishment to the guilty.
The residents of the district too expressed happiness over the judgement.
The murders took place on May 21, 2020, at an old mill on the outskirts of Geesukonda mandal of Warangal district. The bodies of the nine victims were found in an abandoned well of the mill, Singh having killed them all by throwing them in the well after giving them sleeping pills.
