The MLAs of the YSR Congress party on Friday met Speaker Nadendla Manohar, requesting him not to accept their resignations till the state Legislative Assembly passes a resolution in favour of Samaikyandhra.
Although the YSRCP MLAs maintained that they requested the Speaker to immediately convene a special session of the Assembly to table a resolution seeking a united state, sources say that they appealed to him not to hold the decision on their resignation till the next session. They reportedly told the Speaker that he could accept the resignations after the Assembly passes a resolution opposing the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
It may be mentioned here that all legislators of the YSR Congress, including the party's honorary president Vijayamma, have already submitted their resignations after the Congress Working Committee decided to bifurcate the state to carve out Telangana. However, the party appears to have changed its strategy after its president Jaganmohan Reddy was released on bail in the Disproportionate Assets case. (INN)
