Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, on Friday, expressed concern over the sale of spurious drugs in the market, a phenomenon that has been posing serious threat to the lives of the common people.
Talking to reporters after participating as the chief guest in a medical camp, at the state Secretariat, organised by the AP Secretariat Employees Association, Pankaj Dwivedi said that he has directed the medical & health department to take stern action against those selling spurious drugs in the market.
He said that it has now become difficult to distinguish between original and fake medicines, and that their consumption was resulting in the loss of money and precious lives.
The Chief Secretary said that the common man was afraid of going to government hospitals due to improper service, and that therefore, people are spending huge amounts in corporate hospitals, despite the fact that government hospitals have experienced doctors and better medical equipment.
However, Dwivedi also expressed concern over inadequate facilities at many Primary Health Centres in rural areas and Urban Health Centres across the state.
Besides the Chief Secretary, Special Chief Secretary G Sudhir Kumar, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Praveen Prakash, and other senior officials, participated in the health camp. (INN)
