In a major relief after six months of the Covid-19 pandemic and its adverse effects, the TSRTC city buses today hit Hyderabad's main roads following the Telangana government's nod.
For now, the RTC officials are plying only 25% of the city buses as per the instructions of the government. The active fleet will be increased to 50% after seeing the response from the people in the next seven to ten days.
Buses services have also been allowed to Karnataka and Maharashtra, and the government is yet to decide on running buses to Andhra Pradesh.
The government asked to TSRTC to follow the coronavirus protocols in plying the services. Only 50% of the seats are being allowed to be occupied.
The RTC staff were seen returning to their jobs with much enthusiasm and eagerness, and following the corona protocols at all depots.
The TSRTC had earlier begun bus services from several depots on the outskirts such including Ibrahimpatnam, Bandlaguda, Rajendranagar and Maheshwaram.
