The state Cabinet, on Monday, approved the release of Rs. 135 crores for health, sanitation and road repair works in the state.
Briefing media persons after the cabinet meeting at the state Secretariat on Monday, Minister for Information and Broadcasting J Geetha Reddy said that the money was sanctioned after the roads and sanitation in the state had been badly damaged due to rainfall.
Geetha Reddy also revealed that the government has decided to appoint special officers to various municipalities across the State after the terms of the elected representatives in such corporations comes to an end by September 29th.
The Minister did not elaborate on when these elections will be held.
The Minister also said Chief Minister K Rosaiah told the Cabinet that the rainfall had played havoc with the roads across the State, and directed Chief Secretary S V Prasad to talk to district Collectors and ensure that health problems do not arise due to water-logging.
