Rs 312 Crores For Hyderabad Police Modernisation
Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said the government was introducing a new policing system for the city on the lines of those in New York and London.
Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Tuesday informed the Telangana State Legislative Assembly that the government had decided to introduce a new policing system in Hyderabad on the lines of those in New York and London, to provide adequate security and safety to the citizens.
In his reply to a question raised by MLAs Bigala Ganesh and Malipeddi Sudheer Reddy during Question Hour, the Home Minister said that the government had sanctioned Rs 312.74 crores, especially for purchasing new vehicles and installing CC cameras at strategic locations.
He also informed that the number of women police stations would be increased to 80 over a period of 3-4 years, and that there would be at least one women police station at each police sub-division.
"It is proposed to impart counselling to the police station staff on etiquette and culture change, especially when interacting with women and the weaker sections, and in the next 6 months, each police station, circle office and sub-divisional police office will have a camera that records proceedings 24 hours. This will ensure transparency which is a key performance indicator of the police's functioning, and allay fears of police misdemeanors," Reddy said. (INN)
