CM Urges Centre To Speed Up Hyderabad's Development

Revanth Reddy was participating in a meeting of urban development ministers chaired by Union urban development minister Manohar Lal Khattar in the city.
Hyderabad | 18th November 2025
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today called for robust economic growth in Telangana by seeking the Union government's assistance in completing game-changing projects including the Musi rejuvenation, Metro Rail expansion, lifting Godavari river waters to Hyderabad and the Regional Ring Road.

Participating in the regional meeting of urban development ministers chaired by Union Housing and Urban Development minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister spoke about the State government's vision to transform Hyderabad into a globally competitive city through major infrastructure initiatives.

Seeking the Centre's full support, Reddy said that several key development projects were pending approval. He urged the Union minister to expedite clearances and extend support to Metro Rail Phase-II, the Musi project, the Godavari water diversion scheme and the Regional Ring Road works.

The CM also briefed Khattar on zero-carbon emission measures in the State, including the promotion of electric vehicles. He said that 3,000 electric buses would be deployed in Hyderabad in the coming year. Discussions also covered the Future City project, global investments in the proposed new city, and plans for a dry port to strengthen the State's economy.

"We are not competing with other Indian States. Our competition is with cities like Singapore, Tokyo and New York, and achieving this requires the Centre's cooperation," he said.

Revanth Reddy added that the State government would release the Telangana Rising Vision Document 2047 on December 9. "We aim to make Telangana a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034 and a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047. We expect Telangana to contribute 10% to the national economy," he said, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making India a 30-trillion-dollar economy by 2047 under Viksit Bharat 2047.
