Rs 20,000 Salary, 2 BHK Houses For Home Guards: KCR

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today announced sops for home guards including a Rs 20,000 monthly salary (up from Rs 12,000), free two-bedroom housing, health insurance and more.
Talking to the representatives of the home guards after discussing on their problems at Pragathi Bhavan along with Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, DGP Mahender Reddy and other officials, the Chief Minister said that since it was quite hard to make a decent living with just Rs 12,000, the government was hiking the salaries to Rs 20,000 and also offering housing.
Apart from the regular salary, an additional Rs 1,000 every year and free bus passes in Hyderabad would be given to the home guards, women would get six months of maternity leave, men would get 15 days of paternity leave, and health facilities on par with those for to the regular police would be offered, he said.
18,491 home guards would benefit from the new salary, the CM said.
The government would provide the double bedroom housing facility to the home guards in whatever district they wanted, the CM said.
KCR also said that the government would provide 25% quota in the SPF, 20% in positions for drivers, 10% to 15% in the fire department, 2% to 10% in the police communications department, and 5% to 15% in positions for Armed Reserve constables for the home guards. Those working in the traffic wing would be considered permanent employees and be given allowances from January, and a Rs 200 daily allowance for bandobust duty, the Chief Minister said.
The Telangana government was for inclusive growth and there was no space for bonded labour in the state which was achieved after a long battle, he said.
