Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and AICC Telangana affairs in-charge Deepa Dasmunsi today urged Congress MLAs to ensure that both newly appointed and senior leaders collaborated effectively to secure victory in the upcoming local body elections.
Reddy held a three-hour discussion with Congress MLAs and ministers at the Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana, where he spoke on various issues.
During the discussion, he also reaffirmed the Congress government's commitment to the categorization of the Scheduled Castes, and expressed readiness to implement it in Telangana.
He said that though the BC caste census was conducted in line with the Kamareddy Declaration, the opposition parties were still unnecessarily raising objections, and advised each MLA to launch a counter-initiative at the constituency level in response to the criticism.
In a media interaction later, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud said, "We deliberated on the party's strategies for the upcoming local body elections. MLAs have shared their perspectives, and their concerns have been addressed."
He also announced that a major public meeting on the caste census would be held in Suryapet, where Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, would participate.
Another public meeting on the categorization of the Scheduled Castes was also being planned in Medak, and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge had been invited to attend, he added.
Goud accused the BRS and BJP of misleading the backward classes regarding the caste census, and said that the two meetings were part of the Congress' efforts to bring the truth to light.
He also alleged that BRS working president K T Rama Rao had travelled to Delhi for a corrupt arrangement with the BJP.
