Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today lambasted former chief minister and opposition leader K Chandrashekar Rao asking him why he was not meeting the people.
"If KCR really has love for the people, why is he not among them? If the people are really in trouble, why doesn't he come out from his farmhouse and fight for them?" the Chief Minister asked.
On the occasion of the completion of one year of Congress rule in Telangana, Reddy participated in the Praja Palana Vijayotsavam celebrations at the Arts College grounds in Hanumukonda.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, "KCR should learn from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Even though the Congress did not get power three times at the Centre, Rahul Gandhi is still among the people. Why is KCR not fulfilling his responsibility as the main opposition leader?" Reddy asked.
Reddy asked KCR to come for a debate on the development of Telangana during the tenure of Congress and the BRS governments, and said that the government was ready to conduct an Assembly session whenever KCR offered to come.
The CM also alleged that the BRS government had made Telangana a debt-ridden State, and that the current Congress government was painstakingly reconstructing the State, simultaneously keeping corruption out.
Addressing allegations that the party was misleading the people on implementation of its election promises, the CM said, "The Congress government has spent Rs 18,000 crore on loan waivers within six months. However, some farmers having agricultural loans of below Rs 2 lakh could not avail themselves of the waivers due to some technical reasons. As promised, we will waive off all the loans soon."
Coming down heavily on union minister and BJP Telangana president Kishan Reddy for his "double standards" on the development, the Chief Minister said that Kishan Reddy had supported the beautification of the Sabarmati river in Gujarat but the same person was now opposing the beautification of the Musi river in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister also promised that Warangal would be developed as a benchmark for North Telangana in the days to come.
