Governor E S L Narasimhan today participated in the Telangana Jagruti Skill Development Centre inauguration ceremony along with Union Minister Rajiv Prathap Rudy, and, during a brief speech, emphasized the need for developing skills among graduates to make them employable.
Narasimhan also stressed the need for inducting skill development into the school curriculum, and asked the Telangana government to revamp the education system and speed up the process of "cleansing" it to improve its standards.
Citing the recent EAMCET-II paper leak and other scams within the education sector, the Governor expressed his concerns at the "collapse" of the education system in the State and the nation.
"The system is collapsing. Some top level officials in the education sector are involved in corruption, and are swindling money from the students and the sector. It is time to put an end to this 'business' of education and revive its true purpose," he said.
He also opined that the government should set up special centres in villages to tap talent.
"There is an urgent need for opening up special centres in all villages to prepare the rural youth to compete with their city counterparts for top-notch jobs," he said.
Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana Jagruti president and TRS MP K Kavitha, IT Minister K T Rama Rao and others also attended the ceremony.
