TJS chief M Kodandaram today expressed his support for the farmers protesting the farm Acts, and said that the protestors in Delhi were struggling to protect their rights.
Talking to the media after attending an all-party rally organised to extend solidarity to the ongoing farmers' struggle, Kodandaram slammed the Modi regime for showing "no interest" in resolving its ongoing stand-off with the farmers to "protect its prestige".
"The laws, implemented solely to favour a handful of corporate honchos by allowing them to loot the farmers of our country, reveal the BJP's deeply anti-farmer stance. The Centre must repeal the draconian laws to protect interests of the farmers at once. It is shameful that the government of a democratic nation is refusing to resolve the issues of its farmers only to protect its own prestige," he said.
The TJS chief also expressed his displeasure at the violence that marred the farmers’ tractor rally in the national capital today.
(The ongoing farmers' agitation today
turned violent as the protestors clashed with the police after the former reportedly breached police barricades in the national capital. The protesters had also organised a tractor rally in order to draw attention to their plight which had reportedly left the Centre and its law enforcement bodies on edge.)
Various parties have spoke out against the farm Acts today. This follows an
all-party meeting in the state, attended by the Congress, the TDP, the TJS and various left parties, where the parties decided to launch a protest against the Acts.
