Praja Telangana Rhythu Sangham (PTRS) on Tuesday warned the government that if it failed to release Rs. 10 crore for the Nizamabad Cooperative Sugar Factory and make it reopen, the PTRS would lay siege on the Shakkar Bhavan on November 29th.
Talking to media persons on Tuesday, PTRS president I Kishan demanded that government should come forward and reopen the sugar factory by releasing Rs. 10 crore for payment of the dues to various departments by the factory.
Kishan also demanded that the government should waive off the loan debts so that it can be restarted again. He pointed out that the sugar factory provided direct and indirect employment to thousands of people in the district.
The PTRS president further demanded that the government launch investigations into the charges of corruption laid against officials who had effectively shut down the factory through their corrupt practices.
The farmer leader also demanded that the government fixed Rs. 2,500 per ton as the Minimum Support Price for sugarcane, and also provide loans at nominal interest to the cultivators.
Kishan added that for the crushing season of the year 2011, subsidies should be given for the farmers, and a ban on leasing the factory should also be imposed.
