The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) today asked Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to release waters from the Sripada Ellampally project to the farmers.
TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader K Jana Reddy, Leader Of Opposition in the Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, former TPCC Chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah and CLP Deputy Leader T Jeevan Reddy visited the Ellampally reservoir and gave former united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy the credit for the starting it.
"The previous government completed 90% of works of the Ellampally project. The current government is merely stopping and restarting the project to make it look like all the work is being done by it," the TPCC chief said.
The Congress leaders demanded that the government release waters to 2.2 lakh acres of land for the Ellampally project immediately.
"It doesn't matter if the TRS government wishes to re-inaugurate the project. What matters is that they finish all the works and release waters for the farmers," they said.
