Reddy Hostel Complex Should Offer Top Education: KCR

The Telangana CM said that the complex coming up in Budvel should be a tower of education that would provide world-class courses and campus recruitments.
Hyderabad | 22nd August 2017
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that the RBVRR hostel complex coming up in Budvel should be a tower of education in the city that would provide "ISB-level" professional courses and a large number of campus recruitments through a cluster of institutions, and honour the towering personality of Raja Bahadur Venkat Ram Reddy, who strove for education to all.

The CM was laying the foundation for the complex to be constructed at Budvel near Rajendra Nagar. The complex is being constructed as part of the centenary activities of the RBVRR group.

He also announced Rs 10 crores more if necessary, in addition the Rs 10 crores already sanctioned, for the initiative. In general, he promised to offer all possible help and funding for the RBVRR hostel complex in its efforts to offer world-class education and highly specialized courses.

"The Rs 10 crores in funds and 10 acres of land that the government has offered is just a pittance for such a great idea of RBVRR. Fortunately, some noted personalities appreciated that and offered to give another Rs 10 crore for the same," he said, referring to Shantha Biotech's Varasprasad Reddy who he said offered Rs 10 to 20 crores for the initiative.

Responding to an appeal by the RBVRR Educational Society for more land, he also offered right away to give an additional five acres for the complex, and said that the related order would be issued on August 23.

The CM also offered 1,500 sq yards of vacant Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) land at Narayanaguda, for expanding the women's hostel adjoining the RBVRR Women's College there.

"Venkatram Reddy was quite rich, and launched many educational institutions and hostels for the cause of the people of Telangana. Venkatram Reddy and U Venkat Ranga Reddy built a school at Nampally in 700 sq yards, and had to run from pillar to post to get the land sanctioned. Venkat Ranga Reddy, inspired by Venkatram Reddy, then started other schools to cater to the educational needs of the students. Bhagya Reddy Verma also fought with the Nizam to ensure that schools are opened for the SCs. Dharma Reddy was the person behind the KPHB Colony at Kukatpally, and the colony was originally named after him until it was renamed by a united AP government. Other Telangana leaders too contributed their best for education and culture in the region. It is our duty to honour such towering personalities by naming some institutions after them. That was the reason that the Telangana Police Academy was rechristened the Raja Bahadur Venkat Ram Reddy Police Academy. The previous rulers deliberately ignored naming structures after Telangana stalwarts who strove for education, welfare and development," the CM said.
