Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, on Tuesday, said that the he was ready to face the questioning by the Central Bureau Of Investigation in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets case involving Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Confirming that he was in receipt of the summons to appear before the CBI on 7 June, Ponnala said that he would cooperate with the CBI and provide the information required.
Sources says that the CBI is likely to question Ponnala over the GOs issued during 2004-09 when he was the minister for Major Irrigation in the cabinet of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. The issue is the supply of water from the river Krishna to some cement companies, which, in turn, allegedly made investments in the businesses of the Kadapa MP.
Ponnala is among the 6 ministers who were issued notices by the Supreme Court in March this year, for issuing 26 controversial GOs that allegedly helped Jaganmohan accumulate illegal wealth while his father was the CM.
The CBI has, so far, questioned home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and roads and buildings minister B Dharmana Prasada Rao, while it
arrested former excise minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao last month, for his alleged role in the VANPIC project. (INN)
