"Ready To Be Hanged For Telangana"
Reacting sarcastically to the CM's comments, TRS MLA K T Rama Rao said that MLAs are ready to face capital punishment if it means achieving a separate Telangana state.
Reacting sarcastically to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's comments that speaking against Speaker Nadendla Manohar's decision to reject the resignations of Telangana MLAs could invite a jail term, TRS MLA K T Rama Rao on Monday said that the TRS' MLAs are ready to face capital punishment if it means achieving a separate Telangana state.
Talking to media persons at the TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao's residence, K T Rama Rao said the elected representatives are ready for any sacrifice.
"We are ready to be hanged, too, if that means achieving Telangana," KTR said.
Alleging that the Speaker had acted under the 'watchful eyes of Seemandhra leaders,' KTR said that the TRS MLAs submitted resignations afresh on Monday.
Condemning Nadendla's decision of rejecting the resignations, the TRS MLA alleged that the Speaker had taken the decision without consulting the elected representatives, and that he had, thereby, acted unilaterally and arbitrarily.
He warned the Speaker that Telangana-elected representatives would stage an agitation in front of his Chambers if he fails to accept the resignations a second time too.
KTR also appealed to all Telangana leaders to mount pressure on the Speaker to accept resignations.
"It is the responsibility of the elected representatives from Telangana to get their resignations accepted by the Speaker," he stated.
He also condemned Union Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy for failing to respond to students' suicides which were occurring in his constituency.
KTRs asked Jaipal Reddy to "open his eyes and resign from his post".
Responding to allegations by former Union Communications minister A Raja that both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and then Finance Minister P Chidambaram had known about transactions in the 2G Spectrum allocation, KTR demanded the arrest of both leaders and investigations into the allegations. (INN)
